Im pretty sure they are the same. but well i just ordered one on ebay, and doubting myself. Can anyone confirm that a 05 wide glide gas tank will be the same as my 07 wide glide gas tank.

 

yes, they are the same 5.1 gal., pre-06 has no tank liner, 10-and up went to the 4.9 like the streetbobs 06,07,08 are 5.1 I did this 3-4 yrs ago, bought an 05 wideglide tank intending to paint it, had my original 5.1 gal fxdc tank off doing work, went to put the damn thing back on and dropped it. So now I am running my 05 spare and will fix and paint my original. Now I can look on this with a sheepish grin, but at the time I sure was pissed.

05 would be carb where 07 will be injected so if you get an O5 tank for your 07 it will not work

 

Ahh crap... So if its carbed, does that mean that it wont have the tabs on the inside to mount the fuel pump and what not on the inside? I already ordered this, theres no way that i will be able to make it work?

 

Is your bike Fuel Injected?

 

yes mine is fuel injected... if your bike is fuel injected and you ordered a tank for a carbed bike, no you will not be able to make it work unless you cut out and weld in tabs for a sporty fuel pump under it and then seal back up the tank. way more work than needed. Sorry man i wish i would have seen this sooner i would have been able to warn you before you purchased a tank that will not work

 

Ok, i appreciate it.. The add doesnt say if its carbed or injected. So i guess all i have is hopes and dreams at this point.. Is there a breakdown of how many of that model were injected and how many were carbed? Just so i have a sense of what my odds are of getting what i wanted?

 

I am pretty sure 06 and up are injected though 05 only softails came injected no dyna's

 

My 04 FXDX is injected. I bought a 05 Wide Glide tank, injected from a guy here on the Forum. So it will be a toss up if the one you bought it from did not tell you if it is a injected tank or not.

 

Carb and Injected tanks are the same, you just change out the petcock. If you go to the online parts finder you will find both tanks are the same part number for an 05 WG whether carb or Injected.. 61586-04
