Default 07 FXDB wheel swap help

Looking to change my wheels to a set on mags. I understand the '06-07 have a 1" axle and the bearings are wider than '08 and up. Looking at the HD switchblade wheels (http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...19-front-wheel). Without major fabrication is there any way of doing this with my current spacers and a different wheel bearing to correct offset?

Thanks
Chris

If you talk to your dealer I believe they sell bearing/spacer kits to do it.

It might be easier to find mag off an 06/07 FXD or Low Rider and chrome it, then trying to source bearings and machine spacers unless you have access to lathe. I have found that the dealers parts department will only go by the book on fitment and probably wont be much help making it work.
YMMV 06/07 FXD wheels come up on craigslist and ebay between $250-$400 good luck

Switchblades come off 06-current dynas.. No lathe needed just different bearings for 08-newer bikes if they originally came off 06-07 and vice versa. Axle changed in 08. Shouldn't be much work to do

Im switching from laced to mags..i currently have 12 superglide and putting switchblade wheels from an 06...i changed the bearing today and just have to fit some rubber on them...when i was at the dealer the guy said i might have to do some machining...however im pretty sure thats not the case...after much research and input from everyone here it seems to be as simple as changing the bearings to 25mm...i guess ill find out soon.lol.as far as the wheels they always come on ebay for around 500...ill post when i get em fitted...good luck

To put 06/07 wheels on an 08-up the front can just have a bearing and center spacer swap. The rear isn't as simple though. There's a special bearing shim needed for one of the bearings. I've done it but I don't remember what thickness the shim was. These shims are included in hd wheel install kits, just don't remember which one it needed. I guess I should have taken better notes on what was required. It's very important that the bearing spacing is perfect. What might seem close enough can wreck the brakes pretty quick, destroy calipers and rotors. Brakes are kinda important. There's no machining required, just the right parts and some measuring. All the stock outer wheel spacers will work fine. If the wheel or calipers don't fall right into place like they should or seem like they might need shimming or trimming or something then the bearing spacing is off. I've seen this messed up bad way too many times. You only have two wheels, make sure they're both right.

The wheels the op is looking at wont accommodate the wider width wheel bearings used on 06/07's due to the hub being machined shallower for the narrower width 08-later bearings.
so there is more involved than just a bearing bearing and inner spacer swap.

08-later bikes can make use of 06/07 wheels but have to use a shim make up for the difference in hub depth. Try pressing the wider bearing in to the shallower hub and you're looking at F*ck city and a trip to the machine shop for new axle spacers.
Its all in the part numbers
06/07 Cast (black trim) 19" front PN# 40974-06 (1" bearings)
08-later cast (black trim)19" front PN# 40973-08 (25mm bearings)
Chrome switchblade 19" front P&A wheel PN# 40359-10 (PN# 40973-08 just offered in chrome 2010)

I hope this helps as always YMMV
