Default Tuner needed?

Posted this in another section earlier, thought I'd try here as well..

Currently got a 08 FXDB with DK air cleaner, cycle shack slip ons, and some XIED's. It seems to run good/fine. I'm looking to install a performance cam myself. (S&S 583 ez start) Would the XIED's be enough for this kind of upgrade? Not looking to get sold the thundermax or any other auto tuner($$$) What are my options on budget???

THanks!

Maybe wait and do the build right the first time ? I think that the XIEDs are going to be quite weak with the proposed build. JMHO

I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Not only will it not run well it won't give you anywhere near the performance you should get out of a cam swap. If you're not willing to pay to do it right don't do it at all, just my opinion. Also, why the 583? Very disappointing choice imo. Even with a great dyno tune you wouldn't be looking at much over stock. I wouldn't be surprised if the power was worse than stock with that cam and a bad tune.

a powercommander + dyno time costs more than a powervision and a canned map from fuelmoto. then let the powervision dial itself in.

IMO, unless you get something that will autotune you need to also figure in dyno time on the fuel processor costs. i mean if a canned map is good enough why spend the money on cams.

Shop in my area likes the S&S cams. That's what was recommended with a thundermax. I originally went in there with the SE 203, andrews 37 or 54 in mind. I'm leaving displacement stock. Just a cam upgrade with a tuner if needed...and cheaper preferably..

I have a PCV+ Autotune. Running SE204's and other goodies and like my ride. By the time you decide on a tuner a new one comes on the market. OP do what you can afford man. I know what its like to want and have no money. Replace the inner cam bearings when you do the cams. Everyone out here has their own opinion. Alot of good info but you need a filter for it for sure.

the thundermax is probably the best tuner out there. but i've been really happy with the powervision for ~half the cost. if i were racing i'd spring for the thundermax. but i dont race my fatbob.

check out fuelmoto's site. they have great support and reasonable prices.
