I have a 2000 FXDWG. Last week I rode over a rough cattle guard and the bike shut off completely. I coasted to a stop and had to wait several minutes before the bike would start again. The engine light stayed on and the bike will not stay running. Someone mentioned to me a shut down switch that may have been triggered and needs to be reset. Any ideas. Desperate in Burnet.

 

Have you tried cycling the run/stop switch to off the run three times and cycling the ignition three times in conjunction with run/stop. I.E. ignition on, run/stop to stop then run , ignition off, three times.

 

Thanks for the quick reply. Let me retype the sequence I tried to make sure it is correct. With the ignition off, and the run/stop switch on run I turn on the ignition and cycle to stop then back to run. Then I cut the ignition off and repeated the sequence two more times. If this is correct the bike started but the engine light came on, then off so I'm assuming everything was not reset properly. Thanks again sir.

 

The key switch on mine is messed up. Sometimes it will die just hitting a hard bump. Not often but seems to be getting worse. The lights on the dash stay lit up but the headlight goes off.
