DIY intake mod?
I am just curious has anyone done a DIY intake tube yet? I just cant seem the reason to spend 150+ on a tube and a pod filter. Its not a money issue that wants me to do this, its just from my car side when you can spend 200+ on a k&n intake vs ebay pipe with a pod filter or DIY. I mean the suckers,ect.. are beautiful don't get me wrong just kind surprised i haven't seen anything else.

Cheapest route is to get a Screamin Eagle backing plate and K&N filter.
I'm guessing you are thinking you can just chop the intake tube, slip on some pipe and a filter like the Spetcre kits allow you to do on a car. I have done that stuff to cars and trucks.
The intake on the bike actually helps hold the throttle body in place...the breathers are bolted to the heads.
I think it's just not worth the time and money involved to make something.

I am with you on this. Been thinking about fabbing something up. I like the heavy breather but not in my price range right now plus the HD catalogue no longer lists it for my year. I have looked at Wimmer and. Few others but $450 is just a little to steep right now. Might use my stock stage 1 back plate as a template and make something out of billet.
