Default Switchback Saddlebags

I was looking at putting some saddlebags on my FXDC and really like the look of the hard bags like the Switchbacks have.

It looks like my rear fender is too short to support the switchback saddlebags.

Anyone have any ideas how to get nice color matched bags on a FXDC?

Looks like any hardbags are going to be expensive, so I guess other options will now have to be considered.

I ran across a website called Vikingbags.

http://www.vikingbags.com/motorcycle...saddlebags.htm

Anyone have any experience with them? Some of them look pretty nice.

You would not actually support the bags with the fender...would need some sort of metal skeleton behind it.

If you were going to do something custom, may as well do a full size bag instead of the Switchback ones...unless that was specifically what you wanted.

Some guys have done some really nice work on here...search hard bags.

I have Corbin bags which are made for the Dyna. They are big money, but I found a set on Ebay...with paint, I have about $1500 into them. CRAZY!!

My wife and I love them though and they hold everything she has to carry!

hard bags are so much nicer, don't have to deal with your stuff getting wet. and look great I have the tsukayu bags, cost for bags and paint was near 1000.00
not including the labor to prep and paint.

Very nice looking ride, those bags look great, are they quick detach or do you just keep them on all the time?

Take your time, watch Ebay and Amazon, and the classified sections of this forum and you can score HD hard bags <$300. sometimes with a little damage, sometimes none. With a little effort and some metal working skills you can make your own brackets, from a trip to your local Home Depot/Lowes/Tractor Supply, etc. shop around , and ask local paint suppliers who can repair/paint the bags relatively cheap and do a good job, and you can have HD bags done right and painted for about the cost of aftermarket bags. One place most people never think of checking is your local HD dealer. More often than you think they replace a bag that was scratched with new ones, and end up with several sets of slightly damaged bags. I bought a parts lot on Ebay with 7 left side bags and 4 right side bags, some gas tanks/fenders etc. and I sold enough gas tanks to cover the cost of the parts lot. I bought a few right side bags off Ebay and some hardware kits and sold a couple sets of bags for an overall profit. Keep checking Ebay and Craigslist and anywhere else you can thing of and you can score some deals.
