Default fxdf vance and hines exhaust question

hey all,
i haven't found a thread to address this yet, but i have a 2014 fxdf and i'm looking to get the vance and hines big shots staggered in black? my question is if anyone has these and if so, are the pipes chrome with a heat shield, or are they a full black pipe? from what i read they are chrome w/heat shield but all the pics i can find "look" like a full black pipe???? do my eye deceive me??

The pipes themselves are not black. But V&H does have 220 degree heat shield so it does cover everything.

They look good on my 14 FXDF. I put them on with the Fuel Moto Stage 1 and Powervision tuner. They were too loud (neighbor unfriendly). I tried the V&H quiet baffles which improved the sound slightly but still too loud. I added the Smartpartz Hard Kore baffle to the end of the V&H quiet baffle = perfect.

The pipes are chrome and actually much more narrow then the heat shields that go over them. And as HDINAZ said, they are very loud. When I start my bike in my garage the windows in the house shake. I'm sure the neighbors love hearing that at 5am when I go to work or at 3am when I get home on the weekends.....

I have the V&H Big Shots in black on my 13 Fat Bob - under normal viewing you will not see any chrome pipes but at certain angles you might see small areas of the chrome pipes under the black heat shields - but it is so minor you should be happy with your choice
