14 Fat Bob rims on an 09
#2
Ok, so maybe just one more thing to add to the bike. Thinking about the Harley tach/speedo or maybe a Dakota gauge. Anyone have any thoughts on the two?
I really liked the way the rims turned out, not to mention the rotors. Being that the rotors are slotted a little more than the stock ones you're able to see the rim a little better. It was either these or get my stock one powder coated. Would have been a little cheaper to get powder coated, but call me weird, I liked the Harley writing around the lip...

The rims look good. Turned out nice. As to the tach/speedo question, I'm currently running with the Dakota Digital and like it. Before that I was running the HD unit. IF you decide to go with the HD combo unit, I have the one that I was running before switching to the Dakota unit. The drawback is that the mileage can only be transferred from the bike one time. If you have approximately 25K miles on your bike, I'd make you a deal.

I have 30K on the bike, but 5K on my rebuild, so I really don't even pay attention to the mileage, except for service intervals. So, the gauge can be swapped between bikes? I thought once after the 31.1 miles it was then locked to the bike? If that isn't the truth and you want to sell, let me know...

From what I've read, once the gauge is VIN locked it's a done deal. Has something to do with DOT regulations and ensuring mileage isn't tapered with. Plus I'm reading the dealership doesn't have the capability to unlock it too, so I'm thinking you may be stuck with a good back-up gauge. If you know anything different let me know...
