Default What would you do, bummer deal

Well long story short I have been using a local Indy for a few years now nice guys great prices. Anyway had him replace my tires and they scratch the chit out of the lip of my front rim. They are black and it did not go all the way thru but it's a nice long scratch. It almost the whole right side. I was bummed and he was up front with me but once I got home and looked at it harder I am not sure if I should ask him to fix it or what. What would you do?

Have him fix it. "Nice guy" or not it's still business.

I'd probably touch it up with some matching paint and go on, but that is just me. That is provided it is not too bad and deep a scratch.

I feel obligated to clarify in my above agreement that you would have to define "scratched the chit". Your idea and mine may be different. Some people are very **** especially with other people's mistakes. If it met my definition of the phrase I would have them fix it. If it wasn't that bad I would probably go on about my business and forget about it.

When I say scratched the chit it's just very large meaning all the way around and it's gouged not just a hairline scratch. Thing that's nice is they are black and the scratch it still black so it's not hugely noticeable

First off,a "nice guy" would do the right thing and offer to fix it. I say push the matter and get it fixed. Why should you suffer? Did he still charge you for the labor ?

Did he compensate in someway? Like a Discounted price or give you a good deal next time? If he didnt, he either doesn't know what he is doing, doesn't value your business, or thinks of you as a pushover who won't confront him about it. There's got to be a way for you to feel better about this, even if that is finding another shop and not spending your money there anymore.(theres got to be other shops in your area).

At least. When I make a mistake in my work, I fix it at my expense. I don't "offer", I just tell them I'm doing it. It just seems right.

Yeah your trust in his work is just as gouged as the wheel. If he was upfront abt it chances are he knew he screwed up & would likely fix it if you pushed. Would you happily take your bike there again? You decide..
