Default Turn Signals

I have a good friend that is a wizard at fixing Harleys. Well, one of his clients brought him a "chopper" he had built with an after market frame and a Revtech motor.
The problem is in the wiring for the bike. The rear turn signals don't work...Whoever wired the bike got his wiring degree in kindergarten. When you activate the turn signals, nothing happens. The bulbs are peanut sized and draw 2watts each. The turn signal relay needs more resistance to energize the circuit. So he bought a slightly larger size bulb that draws 7.5watts and behold the signals work. The problem now is that the bulbs are slightly larger and fit into the housing but the lens will not accommodate the slightly larger bulb.
What size resister would he need to put in line to be able to make the original 2 watt bulbs work ?
Thanks for reading this and any good suggestions will be appreciated.

Just search Harley led turn signal load equalizer on Google. There is resistors out there all ready for you. And large enough to take the load. 2 watt turn signals sound like a joke unless they are LED. Change it to bright LED if they are not and add the inline resistor. Remember, it gets hot.

And you are correct to do your homework here. The reason it does not work is Harley's system is showing you a problem since it is designed to do that. If you just add too much resistance, it is no longer going to do that. That is the problem with Jack-leg conversions. Even with correct resistors with low amp bulbs, the whole system means you need to keep a closer eye on whether the brake light or signal lights are working.
