Question Spectra Glo LED Fairing Vent Light

bought a
Spectra-Glo LED Fairing Vent Light

Part Number 68000194

and had the dealership install it, (when I saw drilling into the Fairing, I figured it was worth the shop fee if it got broken then they would have to replace the fairing.
Anyhow my question is this:
the fob lights the LED, and I can change color and pattern of the light, until about 30 seconds after I start the motor. whatever mode and speed that is set, ends and the LED goes steady. It can't be changed unless I stop the bike and shut it off and restart it.
It came with zero operating instructions. Just an installation sheet.

currently riding a 2016 Ultra Limited
