Default headlight help

hows it going i just replace my headlight on my 03 softail standard
the stock headlight has 3 wires and i just noticed the replacement has only 2 wires
so i assume it doesnt have a high beam?
i tryed to hook it up a few diffrent ways and the only way it will work on high and low is if i leave the black wire unattached
if i attach the black wire and say the yellow to the headlight it work until i hit high beam then it has no light same thing if i hook it up using the other wirh( i forget the color) with the black wire
but like i said if i leave out the black wire i get light on both high and low but it doesnt appear like its any brighter one way or the other

so if your still with me heres my question , what can i do if i leave it the way i have it with out the black wire attached should i ground tht wire to the base of the head light?
thank in advance for any help

What exactly did you buy? The headlights for motorcycles don't normally have any wires, they have prongs that the wires from the bike plug onto. Need pics or reference where and what you bought please.

Yes, pics would be nice...on baggers the blk wire normally runs aux lamp so w/your case it could stay disconnected. If you do - wrap it good so it's insulated from connecting/contacting w/anything.

At work now I can get a pick up later , but I'll try to describe it a little better the headlight came from eBay it's been a while but I believe the company is demons cycle It is a whole headlight it has two wires that come out of the back 1 blue 1 white they have connectors on each one but it's not 1 solid connector , the bike side has three wires black , yellow , and I'm guessing white (at work) but either way it has three where the light only has two

OK... Demon Cycles is all I needed to know... they are generally Chinese junk parts, but it can be hooked up to run. NO HIGH BEAM is a correct assumption on your part. Connect your white wire to the headlight white wire... connect your black wire to the headlight blue wire... tape the end or put a wire nut on the end of your yellow wire - it is the high beam wire.
