Default 2010 103 255 cams, need new tensioners?

Do I need to replace my cam tensioners? 57,000 miles on 2010 ultra, 103 kit, Beasley heads etc.

Dealer says nope. Good for 100k. Says they are hydraulic in those years... I would like to trust my dealer. But that is difficult for me....

What say ye all?

Why not? Have you looked at them?

Is it an option to put gear drive cams in this year's motor? I've heard something about endplay concerns with the main shaft.

Good for a hundred thousand huh? That's a pretty broad statement, have changed out a few sets at that 40 thou mark that were worn badly and cracked around the piston area. Cyco gaskets had a shoe only replacement for the late model hydraulic as well as the early spring type. I wouldn't even consider not replacing them. Just like the early style some wear out early and some last for many trouble free miles. You want a true fix then re-work the crank and use gears.

Thank you!

Do you know of the thread that speaks to "reworking the crank" to allow gear cams?

Zippers makes a nice set of dual piston chain tensioners.

Pull the cover and see for yourself. Take what the dealer says with a grain of salt. Always better to see for yourself.
