Probably so, but I did have great success with the fine wire in racing applications.

Now here's a question for you as well as others.

What about an the E3 plugs? I looked on their web site and there is not a listing for the H-D, anyone found a crossover or have tried a certain one of theirs?

I just did a different search route for the E3 plugs using the Champion plug numbers and came up with this:

Description

E3.36 is a 12mm, 0.750” reach plug with a gasket seat. It is used in a variety of powersport applications, and is often the correct plug for V-Twin motorcycle engines. Most late model Harley Davidson engines require E3.36. The patented DiamondFIRE ground electrode is secured to the shell with two legs to help facilitate heat transfer, and to withstand the intense vibration of powersport engine applications. The unique DiamondFIRE side wire is proven to increase power, reduce fuel consumption and improve hydrocarbon emissions in long-term use. The E3 ground electrode and full-size center electrode also provides optimal performance over an extended product life.

Replaces:

CHAMPION: RA6HC, RA8HC
NGK: DPR7EA9, DPR8EA9, DR7EA, DR8EIX, DR8ES

So, has anyone tried these? With all the surface of the tip of the center electrode and the area of the ground electrode does that put a strain on the coils? Would a coil kit like the Accel Stealth Supercoil be needed?

Used nothing but NGK plugs here in all our builds for almost 25 years, for several reasons.
14mm......BPR5ES-11
12mm...... DCPR8E
NO magic plugs out there. NONE.
Biggest thing that one can do is tighten the gap to .035" when going north of 180 ccp, for street applications.
See our Facebook for our Hillside Cycle Smart Gap Tool.
