Default 259e cams in a 2012 103 street glide

Hi. I am thinking of getting these cams for my bike. It currently has air cleaner, Rinehart slip ons with gutted cat. Most of my riding is solo, but occasion the wife rides with me. My question is, according to SE, I would need to install race valve springs but I have read something about "bee hive" valve springs and might not need that. Anyone running this cam with stock springs? Any info would be great.

I'm no expert, but I believe that the springs you have should be fine. It does look like those cams need a bump in compression though with that late intake close. You'll probably find some better choices for a bolt-in cam than the 259e.

edit:
Looks like the springs are up for debate on how much lift they can handle and you're near the borderline with .579 lift. As said before though, looks like the cam is too much for a stock motor and your stock heads wouldn't be taking advantage of the extra lift as it is.

If talking SE cams, the 255 would be a better choice than the 259. Aftermarket has better choices as well.

Will be kind of a dud as a bolt in without adding compression. I would look for a cam that closes in the mid 30's if you want just a bolt in.

Thanks for the replies. I am looking for a bolt in cam that I can use with my stock push rods. I'm not looking to win any drag races, but obviously want some more oomph from the bike. And, as cheesy as it sounds, I want it to sound better at idle too. My other concern is tuning. I bought this bike used and have no idea what tube is in it. I have a VRSCF, and have the super tuner pro for it, but I know harley isn't making it anymore, and my old one won't tune the bagger anyway. I like the functionality of the super tuner pro, and am thinking of trying to find one, but also don't know if it is worth it considering what I'm doing.

I'm running the se255'show in my 96" it really does wonders for your bottom end torque. I found it easy to get running smooth with the Screaming eagle super tuner. Lots of bang for the buck and you can use your stock pushrods and springs.

Thanks. Are you using the super tuner pro, or the other one?

I'm using the pro that the epa banned. I'm not a 100% sure if the street legal one could tune as well but it should be the big bore 103 stage 2 map that you would use as your base map. I know you can fine tune the VE tables on it you just can't change the AFR on it.

SE 204 would also be a good choice. Sounds great at idle and the SE pro tuner has a base map to start with this setup.

I would NOT consider the SE street tuner or pro street tuner. There are other flash tuners for about the same price that wont limit your changes.
