Default New Lifters

Two questions. Anything wrong with the S&S 33-5350 lifters? Is it advised to soak new lifters in oil before installing?

Soak, don't soak, it won't matter. Either way is good, and yes, those are good lifters.

I, myself do NOT soak or pre fill lifters. The oil they have inside when they ship is good enough for initial start up.

NOT filling the lifters makes it easier for me to adjust the lifters, too. One can come off the top, or off the bottoms, if not filled up.

Anything wrong with and S&S lifter?
No, as they are head and shoulders over the rest out there.
No need to soak them, just install per directions and adjust the pushrods.

I have a set of Harley "B" lifters sitting on the shelf from 2005. Are the S&S lifters a better lifter than the old "B" lifters? I'm going to use a TW 222 cam in a 2012 FLHTK.

Hi,

When you open up the cam chest for the change you can check your current lifter and bore to the wear spec in manual, you will find they most likely in very good shape and just keep rolling with them

Thanks

Along the lines of this thread I have heard the "C" lifter has a lot of failures but I haven't heard why. Would the S&S on a stock engine be the best replacement?

Those C units made in Mexico, have a substancial amount of lateral roller wheel movement, as well as many reported cases of bleed down/noise upon start-up.
Also the ground finish on the roller seems to become compromised rather quickly, vs others.
We use S&S here, that we we KNOW, that our clients are not going to have any of the above issues to cause alarm, as after all it is supposed to be about enjoying the motorcycle.
