I have a HD FLSTN softail deluxe 06 which I was trying to start with a weak battery.
I hook the bike battery to a running car battery and tried cranking like that. All of a sudden the bike doesnt want to crack anymore.
Got the security system indicator light solid red for more than 4 seconds, so I knew I got some DTCs (bike doesnt crank, but I hear fuel pump cycling) - 4k miles
The trouble codes I have are:
P: None, Pn 32919-06
S: No rSP
SP: U1255, End, Pn 67439-05
T: No rSP
I've never been able to jump without a running car and revved up. It is only producing 14.4 volts like bike. I have wondered with the new ones that drop down to 9 volts when charged what they run at.
But lets look at this way, it would start, you tried jumping and it would start still. Put it on a charger, check voltage. You may simply need a new battery too.
I wouldn't do anything until I charged the battery overnight, and checking with a meter would be good too.
Think about this. You said weak battery. Charge it .Before anything.
Never ever jump a motorcycle from a car with the car running. It's not the running voltage that's gonna damage things it's the output amperage of the cars altenator. Usually ends up damaging the stator and regulator. I've seen melted wire harness too. So yeah you could have blown the computer also

with this logic to big of battery could be bad. I order to have high amps, something must draw high amps.
I prefer jump packs these days, short clean connections. I have never been Able to jump anything without revving up engine . Need to raise the voltage.
First thing he needs to charged or new battery, then see what is wrong.

I have tried to explain this once before but it is hard to visualise as a problem.
The voltage from the car can be higher than the voltage the regulator can work with. It is that the regulator is being back powered. The positive voltage is flowing into the regulator. If there isn't sufficient protection against this it can damage the components.
