91 ultra rebuild. Fill motor with new oil.
Almost there with this rebuild. Motor has new Andrews EV27 Cam,
Torrington Bearing,New Adjustable Lifters,Tunnels & Alloy Bases.
Seem to remember discussion on the Forum some time ago re. "Priming? Motor"
after refilling with Oil. Also what Oil do you guys recommend ie. semi synthetic or w.h.y. (Scotland UK). I am a bit concerned about setting the timing up properly and if it does fire up Im worried about any noises that might come from the Motor
Any other advice comments about this much appreciated,as usual ! Bungo

Most just prime the oil pump by pulling the check valve and watching it fill up if oil tank is above level of pump. If below, you can run a small stream into the pump from the opening and fill it that way a bit before starting it.
Assembly lube will take care of what you put in for new parts as a rule. Or oil on them as you install them at least.
I use plain old dino oil on new motors, but others use everything in the world, so whatever you think best after dino if you don't want it.
You can always pull the plugs and spin it with the starter to prime it a bit also after you close up the check valve port. Problem is, with no compression some starters may try to stick running, so do this with the intent that you may need to pull the power to the starter real quick like just in case.
Lifters will rattle about 2-3 minutes if new also.

We have a current thread on the oil topic right here. I agree with Griz, stay with 'real' oil, not synth. With our high oil tank the pump itself will be primed by gravity, so removing the plugs and spinning the engine with the starter should circulate oil around the engine and you will see the oil light go out when up to pressure. That should be fine for subsequently starting it.

Don`t expect the pump to prime by cranking up the engine, because if it is empty it will stay empty...
Remove the screw, spring and check ball from the oil pump.
Pour some oil in, or wait until the oil runs down from the tank and fills the pump.
Reinstall the ball, spring and screw.
