Question Oil pump?

I have a few questions to ask, so the stealer don't try to blow smoke up my *** when he tells me what's wrong with bike. To make a short story, I had a 95cu factory re-manufactured motor put in my 06 FLHXI Dec. 2011. Between work and weather I've only put 608 miles on her. Last week stopped to get gas, started her backup no oil pressure at all. Gauge doesn't move and idiot light doesn't go out. Yep it was full of oil.
My questions are. 1. Is there anything in particular that could make oil pump go out, if not, what could be some causes. 2. Is oil pump inside motor or in oil pan? If inside motor it should have been new or re-manufactured along with motor. 3. How is oil pump driven?
Thanks in advance

Does it sound like it has oil pressure? Is the top end rattling? My crank shaft just scissored & took out the oil pump in the process. Bike is currently in the shop for a new bottom end. More info would be helpful. Keep us updated.

Oil pump is in the motor &the driven off the crank. Oil pump should be new not rebuilt. Plugged filter, faulty sender, scissored crank, bad oil pump, etc. I'm sure others will chime in....

Should be under warranty. Hold your ground. Remember never get on your throttle hard unless you have your crank welded. The short time you let your engine run did it shake hard? That would be one sign of a scissored crank. That would wipe out your oil pump at the same time.

After I started it nothing sounded different it started to knock a little louder after it ran about 30 seconds. Here lately when I go to start I was getting that kick back from the starter as with my other 95 but I had compression release valves on it. Hopefully I'll hear something tomorrow, I'll keep y'all informed

If dealer installed, warranty will cover repairs but you shouldn't be running the engine with what appears to be low or no oil pressure. Don't want to give the dealer any excuses to claim operator error. Not that they would do that, of course, just playing it save.

Oil pump will go out if crank runout is excessive; the crank pinion shaft will beat up the oil pump, break gerotors, etc. A piece of foreign material passing through the oil pump will cause failure. I have seen pump gerotor break for no apparent reason, apparently from manufacturing defects, rare but it happens. The reman motors have been including the cam plate/oil pump upgrade for a while now, so I doubt cam chain tensioner failure is in play.

Oil pump is in the cam chest and, as has been pointed out, driven by the crank pinion shaft. The reman motors have been including the cam plate/oil pump upgrade for a while now, so the cam plate and pump should be new. With the upgraded hardware, I doubt cam chain tensioner failure is in play.

Just an update, GOE HD said Haley is replacing the motor with another new re-manufactured motor.

Cool beans; good news! Let's hope the "new" reman motor lasts longer than the first.

Exactly

Went and picked up bike yesterday. New re-man motor again, hopefully better luck this time. GOE HD in Angleton, TX told me that Harley didn't honor warranty since they could not prove why the oil pump cratered. Which happened to be trash which messed it up, metal shavings from the first time when cams cratered back in November. So GOE honored the warranty and ate the bill. So bad they didn't do it right the first time, but good they honored the warranty.I've always taken the bike there for major services and they have always done a good job and service, good job GOE
