Default 1984 flt classic questions

Going to look at a 1984 flt classic tommorow, has 60k miles. Runs great, would the mileage make you shy away? ive heard in 84 some had shovel bottom ends, how do i tell? Its a 5 speed and im pretty sure its an evo but i dont know how to tell any of this! Help please!!

It is most likely an evo, though a shovel for very early production would not be unheard of...just look at the rocker cover...no mistaking the two.
The mileage would not bother me as long as it runs good, doesn't smoke or have any strange noises. If I couldn't get it for less than 5k I would walk away...and if it wasn't really nice it would get below 4k in a hurry...good luck.

If you were up here in canada I would say 5500. Sometimes your better to go with a late shovel rather than a second year evo. Also you have to give the rest of the bike a real good inspection, could be worn out from end to end. When I bought my bike the car dealer that was selling it advertised it as 44000 km and the bike was 500 miles away. Thought I was doing good to buy it over the phone for 6000 and when I got there to ride it home I new right away it was actually 144000 km possibly 244000 km as theres no way of telling. Got it home and have been sing money into it ever since. But at the same time have gotten alot of enjoyment bringing it back to life.
Just be careful.
