Maybe it is a MotionPro thing. But the s&s cables are a full 1" shorter. The mounting bracket for cables on the carb could have possibly been swapped from the CV to s&s? I saw how I I had made a spacer and raised it I could have made them work. They indeed had specific p/n's for s&s only.

When I got my Heritage it was bone stock.
When I put the S&S on the directions said I needed cables that were 2" longer because of where the mounting bracket is on the S&S compared to the CV.
I just rerouted my stock cables to the other side of the handlebars and then they worked fine.

I've never tried Motion Pro so you could be right on that.
All I've used were OEM and Barnett cables.

The S&S I just put on my ultra used the stock cables from the efi. I just needed to use the taller cable bracket on the carb.

So did the new carb come with 2 different brackets then? That would explain a lot in my case. I had thought of making my own extension, but opted for different cables.

Yep, 2 brackets. The directions said if you are using stock H-D cables to use the taller bracket. The cables fit perfectly

Mystery solved then. Sure wish I knew there was a different bracket to get instead of having to buy another set of cables. Dammit! Thx much.

Thanks for everyones advice. I took the handle grips apart; cleaned everything; bought some new throttle cables, and was off and running Saturday. Running great, jetted a little to big; but once I change pipes it should settle in nicely.
