If part of the progressive spring was softer than standard, I suppose it would slump a bit more.

I've never used progressive ones, replacement straight rate springs are another alternative.

Progressive springs definitely are not softer than stock ones.

After experiencing the Progressive springs there is no way I would go back to stock straight rate springs.

I meant "progressive" rather than Progressive™.

Sag, that was the word I was looking for.

Sag is adjusted by the length of the PVC preload spacer. It is not usually necessary. Progressive progressive springs, whatever. They work.

Put more down as a +1 on the progressive springs. Do use their recommended length on the spacer

I've got a question for you guys on these springs. What is the difference between the standard springs and the Heavy Duty springs? Would running a pair of Heavy Duty springs be a better option for the 96 Road King as it is a heavier bike? I need to do something, I want to get rid of the air shock front ride and the diving front end on braking. I have already replaced the fork oil with DelRay #15. I have also installed a set of 440 progressive shocks on the back.
Thanks for the help.

You need stock length Progressive springs. Most that go with the heavy duty find them to be too stiff.

Diddo! My HD Progressive springs are indeed too stiff. Although I was ale to basically eliminate the antidive system altogether. There is no dive when stopping now, or very little anyways. But the ride could be smoother for sure. I want to get some RaceTechs installed sometime. But not really looking forward to ripping off the front end to do it.

I can understand that no one wants front end dip on breaking but one needs to understand that it is actually necessary to be able provide the proper amount of weight on the front wheel when braking (especially hard braking). The front wheel actually displaces 60% of the braking ability of your bike. and when you change the weight ratio aren't you changing the braking characteristics of the bike?
