Default EVO rideing too low

93 Ultra seams to be riding way to low and bottoms out and drags on mufflers, thinking new shocks?

Have you tried or tested the air pressure in your shocks? Do you have this type of system?

Wink

If you are the recent new owner, that bike has been around long enough for all manner of things to be done to it! Check the current length of the rear shocks, as someone may have fitted later shorter ones. Stock length is around 13", shorter ones (stock on later SG bikes) are around 12". I say 'around' as those dimensions are not precise, but are good enough to tell which ones you have. Current wimps like shorter shocks, while proper Evo riders like them set up as God intended!

Are you riding solo or 2-up and (roughly to avoid embarrassment!) what is your riding weight? Also measure the distance from your front fender to the underside of the bottom tree, so we can see if the front has been lowered. On the jiffy that should be around 5 inches, with nobody sitting on it.

Default Shock Lenght

I've been doing some research and I will check on the length and front end tonight when I get home. Riding two up and riding weight is around 355, I've been told my 4" mufflers are sitting around an 1" off the ground and we have been hitting both front and back on turns, mufflers back and Jiffy up front. Understood about what might have been done and that's what got me wondering for sure. O and no embarrassment thanks for the help.

Sounds to me like someone lowered the bike.

So Mr. Brown nice catch. Shocks are 12.25 from center of mount to center and there appears to be a lowering bracket as well. Must have had short legs, shocks are still holding at 15lb so other then being 3/4" shorter then they should be in good shape. I'll pull the lowering brackets and gain it looks like an 1-1/2 at least maybe 2. By the way 5.5 at the front fender on the Jiffy so front seams to be fine.

That's good news as obviously changing shocks is simple, but if the forks had been modified it's a bit more of a pain to investigate and put right.
