When you have the carb off drill a little hole in the plug hiding the idle mixture screw, and pop it out.

Better yet toss that CV and get a S&S super E.

I disagree as i think the cv is a fantastic carburetor. I do prefer the super-e but not to a point to needlessly spend that kind of money.

I haven't tried the SS carb but I have a 42mm Mikuni...wicked performance improvement over the CV ..

Changing my carb from a reworked CV to a Super E was one of the best mods I have done.
Granted it uses more fuel than the CV but the bike runs a hell of a lot better with the S&S than it ever did with the CV.

One man's opinion here, a guy that has been modding cars for decades and currently has a 10 second Vette.

First, that bike looks amazing. Great purchase.

Second, nothing sounds as good as an evo. Get some decent pipes on it. Frankly don't expect much if any performance gain but it'll be louder so it'll seem faster.

Third, the air cleaner on such a tiny engine is not a restriction. If you like the way it looks, keep it and save your money. Gains from a "stage 1 air cleaner" are minimal, like 1-2 rwhp. I can post dyno sheets to prove this point.

Fourth, you could put a cam in it. But news flash...even if you do, it'll only be marginally quicker (for a lot of money). But it will still be SLOW. If you want a quick bike get something else, newer HD or other brands. If you want 100/100 rwhp/rwtq from an Evo you can get it, but it's going to be a expensive proposition with a displacement increase, heads, big cam that isn't friendly in town, etc. etc. and frankly IMHO it would be ruining that bike. It's such an original low miles beaut, if you want a quick bike get something else in the garage.

Just my thoughts. Again, great buy. I'd just ride it and enjoy it.

That is a sweet looking ride there. I kind of see where the old guy was going with the white seat and grips, sort of a retro styling like some old pans and shovels.
I have a question but I think it is only related to the EFI bikes: Is there a crankshaft positioning sensor located on the front of that bike?
I know mine (EFI) was kind of dragging *** until I cleaned off that sensor and it seemed to wake up, a lot more responsive.

The crank position is indeed on the front of the bike and is positioned perfectly in the way of the oil filter. I take mine loose everytime and wipe it off when I change the oil.

Fantastic looking bike. If you want quick, get a used sportster. Would probably be less money than hopping up that Road King.
