Default Evo rear rim size.

Was gonna put this in the tire section but figured someone here would know. I have a 1998 springer softail and I want to get new rims. I know the front is a 21x2.15 and the back is a 16 but not sure how wide. The website with the rims I want have 16x3.5 and 16x5.5 so not sure what it would be. Thanks

That's a pretty wide tire for a 21.

I don't think anyone makes a tire that will fit a 3.5" rim above19" inn diameter. You can however use a 3" rim and a 120 series tire will work, that's about the max...... Have not been able to find a130 or larger.

Stock laced rim size for the rear of a Softail is 3.00 x 16. I know because I've built a couple of them.

I agree. Stock rear tire size on a 1998 springer softail is a MT90B16, which has a recommended rim width of 3.00 inches.

That is the tire size but the rim I want is a 16x3.5 I'm hoping I can put the right tire on that rim. There is no clearance at all between the belt and the tire so I know I can't go with a wider tire

Metzeler made/makes a tire in their ME 880 Marathon XXL line with a front tire size of 140/70V21. If one was to search around, you might be able to find it.
