Help with cam
Was told I should of posted here instead of Engine section.. Looking for advice if this cam may make it awhile longer. I would just replace it but with cam EV27 ,gasket, shim, bearing and puller install tool it's like 300+..Just put S&S rockers new covers pushrods and covers Fueling lifters so got some money into it. Also had the rings and cylinder honed. Anyway waiting for the lifters to come Monday to button everything up. Which would do me better EV 27 or 13? Now worried about the cam what do you guys think?

Generally speaking you can't go wrong with either but here is a guide to choosing
EV13 - heavy bike, riding 2 up, legal speeds, great low to mid rpm and good mid to high rpm
EV27- light bike, solo rider, lots of high speed interstate, great mid to high rpm, good low to mid rpm
In a trike, the EV13 would be better due to the weight
I run EV13 in my Heritage. I always ride solo. Bike pulls hard from idle. Launches quickly and easily and pushes me back in the seat. Passing power is great as well as top gear roll on. I have gone far beyond legal speed in the interstate and it did not feel like it was running out of steam. Engine runs extremely smooth and has a deep exhaust note.
I have a parts list with prices of stuff that went along with the cam.
I never had it on a dyno. The numbers it makes are probably not that big or impressive. It has everything to do with how the power is delivered for my style of riding in the rpm range I spend the most time in and getting other components to enhance the characteristics of the cam. In other words, achieving synergy. I got a lot of bang for the buck in my opinion.
