A new main harness is available from J&P Cycles but you will have to replace the 3 12 pin connectors.
Replacing those connectors is a real PITFA.
When I did mine I had to use the ones off my old harness and since they are keyed you have to make sure they only go in one way you have to pay special attention to how they go.

Mid USA has the complete wiring harness which may have the correct connectors.

I say if you've gone that far why stop now. By the looks of that I would replace it all. At least you will know for sure then. JMO

Mine is also backwards and doesn't ratchet. What a PITA. I messed with the L\S cap a bunch of times before I cranked it to 'tighten' and the somnabitch loosened!. The L\S cap on my '82 Wide Glide shovel was normal. Both tightened and loosened the same way.
