I have a 95 glide and trying to finish a S&s shovel both use a voes.
Make sure you get the correct one and dont by one used with out checking it with a vacum pump.

The motor I am looking at buying comes with a S&S Super G carb and manifold installed. They test run and time the engines before shipment. My tank is an aftermarket one piece smooth tank. My question is this, I am not going to be using the HD petcock on this bike. I will most probably be using a Pingle or similar. I am guessing I just have to have the vacuum line on the carb plugged to use this. I want to avoid the VOES system and Pingle says it is not needed with their petcocks. Anyone ever do this and cap off the VOES system?

The VOES is nothing more than a vacuum operated switch. If it has vacuum to it from the carb it is going to work. If you pull the vacuum line off at the carb and plug the carb, it is going to be dissabled. If you pull the vacuum line off of the tank valve and leave it open, the VOES is going to be dissabled. It can also be dissabled by cutting the wire going from the VOES to the ign. module.

It can make the bike run like a real bitch if the ignition uses VOES and there is a problem with it, however my bike is in yet another phase of its existence, now with an S&S motor plus their ignition and there is no VOES. I have no idea how the new motors lives without one, but it does - must be something to do with the fairies!

VOES switches the module between advance curves.
Bike switches from one curve to another depending on how hard the motor is sucking in air....high speed or high load switches curves.
Aftermarket systems can use a curve that works without VOES...so you just need to check with the manufacturer as to what their system requires.
