Default Am I in trouble? Wrong oil in primary

I just got my Clymer shop manual for my new to me 1989 HD Electra Glide Ultra and it says here if I am reading right for my model I should put HD Transmission Lubricant or Equivalent 1.5 quart. I changed it about 1,000 miles ago and put in Mobile 1 V-Twin 20-50w oil.

Am I screwed... should I change it out immediately?

I read my included manual when I changed it and I thought it said to use 20-50.

You'll be fine. Regular oil works better in the primary as synthetic is more slipperry and can cause clutch slippage but all that oil does is act as a bath for the primary chain and clutch.

Let the experts chime in, but, I doubt you hurt anything. I use atf in mine.

I can't speak for EVOs, but that's what I run in my primarys, and I can't imagine they are different enough to be an issue.

If I had an EVO, that's what I would run

There is no difference between Evo and TwinCam primary oil.
(Run regular dino in there, its cheaper.)

When I had my "oil transfer" problem, oil getting sucked out of my primary into my crank, I just used 20-50w in my primary because it was just going into my crankcase anyway. I did that for 3 years, never had a problem with anything in the primary, just keeping oil in it.

Oh, and when I first got this Harley, my first one, I got confused about which oil went where, and I put 90w gear oil, meant for the tranny, in my primary. My brother-in-law, an old Harley guy, saw it and straightened me out. But I had that in there for weeks, and put on some miles, and didn't notice anything strange. Moral of the story, as long as it's wet, should be fine!

Yeah, you'll be OK. I run Mobil 1 ATF in mine. Oh, and put the Clymers away and buy the Real Shop Manual.
