37g cams and "crankshaft end play"
I am in the process of installing 37Gs in my 95" twin cam and have been hearing about noisy gears and too much end play or run out?
Read all Andrews instructions and am not sure what to check.
Was told 2.5 thousands "end play " (?) or run out? otherwise gears will be noisy? If too much clearance what is the fix?
Sorry for dumb questions just want to do it right the first time..... Anybody jump in ,ANY and ALL help is appreciated....
Thanx Kurt Zimmie

RE: 37g cams and "crankshaft end play"
This is a REALLY GOOD question....
At 1300 miles - my gear drive lost 3 teeth and destroyed lower end...
This is the reason i'm running a And 37 chain drive in the Bob...
I also think the gear drive on the rebuilt motor on the bagger is STILL too loud....
I bought 2 motors on e bay that were junk do to this...
Lucky thing is - they changed the crankshaft 6 times in 8 years - so you won't find the right one cheap...
I THINK THE TOLERENCE ON INSTALLING A FUELING OIL PUMP IS LESS THAN .01...
Indy mech. didn't check the bagger on a rebuild and it went 1 mile and cratered again...! - he got fired !
Check the oil pump for wear on just one side or excess wear - RUNOUT VICTIM...!
Check the chain tensioner shoes - excess wear can be caused by excess runout...
Chain drives are more tolerant than gear drives when it comes to runout....
Dial indicators are cheap at Harbor Freight - Measuring is easier with 2 people...
DON'T MEASURE IT ON A CAM OR OIL PUMP CHANGE - AT YOUR OWN PERIL...!!!
