Evo base gaskets question
hey guys dennis here from point pleasant nj
got a question i have a very small tiny base gasket leak on a fatboy i bought.....i degreased the whole motor scrubbed everything down real well thinking it was really bad after degreasing it its very small maybe the size of a sharpie marker tip.....but heres the question....i rebuilt shovelheads which are simple....how hard is it for someone not knowing much about evos?.....harley wants 700 bucks to do it i figured id do it myself i hate depending on people......anyone know?...also...i heard evo was the cream of motors....WTF?.....this happen alot?....wishing in some ways i had my shovel back i coulda just tightened the base nuts.....

The rear cylinder base gasket was notorious, for leaks on those.
Cometic upper end kit is what you'll need, and that'll end that issue.
If you've been in your Shovel before, it is all relevant and you CAN do it at home.
Depending on the miles, you may want to torque hone/re-ring if you can stay in piston/wall spec.
Also, via a service bulletin from the Moco, the lifters sound be inspected/replaced @ 25,000 on the clock.
Attend to it now, 'cause the season is right around the corner.
