1973 Harley Davidson SX125
Hi guys,
I have a 1973 Harley Davidson SX125. Its a 2 stroke bike and im in the process of having it reconditioned. It was in pretty good condition to begin with. It's been sitting around for quite some time and im at the stage of installing the carburretor. I've been told i need a new one as it's not working properly: The needle valve is not sealing properly and shutting the fuel off. Ive managed to source a new valve but still faulty. No-one can work out what the problem is. So i am after a new carb. The exact model number is: Dellorto SH2-24. Does anyone know where i could source one from or does anyone have one ? If i am posting in the wrong thread then let me know, its my first post. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Mike.

Michael, welcome to HDF. These bikes were made in Italy, when Harley owned Aermacchi. You should be able to broaden you chances of finding a suitable carb, or even parts, by seeking out the other Italian brand specialists such as Ducati. Just as most British bikes had Amal carbs, most Italian ones had Dellorto! Best of luck.

Maybe you can get some info from some vintage motorcycle forums.
I would try fixing the carb first. You will need a new needle and seat and float bowl gasket.Probly just needs a good cleaning.Disasemble completly, clean all the jets and passage ways.Blow thru all the holes with compressed air.
You will also need specs on the float adjustment. This could be the problem.

I've had the same issue with my carb, all you need is a red tipped float needle designed for modern gas. I was able to order one from http://www.scootersoriginali.com/ these guys can get you one they're out of PA should run with shipping about $10 best money I've spent.
