Default Those with geared cams - question

Do your geared cam setups make a lot of noise?
Do you regret going this route?
Any problems?

I read this article, however, not everyone would experience loud noise from the cam chest, right?

I love them, just knowing that the tensioners are gone makes me happy, better timing, less HP loss turning them, noise? can't hear it over the exhaust LOL I went with the S&S easy start cams they do sound a little funny when I shut it down some times but not needing compression releases sold me!

I have gear drive cams in my Duece. The difference in noise from the chain drives is subtle. I can't tell much difference at all. But like the previous post says, my exhaust isn't stock either.

Love them. Quiet, reliable, fit and forget, peace of mind, best thing I ever did on my '99 FXDX

Do your geared cam setups make a lot of noise? No more than your chain driven cams.

Do you regret going this route? Hell no.

Any problems? That would fall into the "Hell no" answer above.

Noise level will depend on runout and gear lash. The gear drives in my '95" Deuce make less noise than the OEM chain drive setup. Noise is also subjective; gear noise is a bit like valve train noise; the same noise level can irritate the crap out of one guy and is music to another.

Get the lash right and noise should not be an issue.

I have just a slight whine in mine. I actually had a guy tell me how cool my bike sounds. A guy said "do you have gear drives in that." He said "I love that sound and miss it when rebuilt my motor and went hydraulic."

His '05 shifted the flywheels and destroyed the cam drive setup.

I'm not quite sure I understand, are you referring to yours or someone else's gear drive or hyd setup??

Are there any adjustments in a setup like this?
How do you adjust lash?

There is no adjustment to speak of although there are oversize/undersize gears available which will change the lash.
