Don't have a forum issue, just a question on forum protocol
As I said, I don't have an issue with the forum. I just want to get your thoughts on what I understand regarding protocol when selling parts in the classified section. I had a set of mufflers for sale in the Touring Parts. Three guys were interested. It's always been my understanding that you give the first guy an opportunity to purchase, understanding that there could be some time for price negotiation, etc. If the deal falls through, then the second guy that expressed an interest gets his shot at the purchase, and so on, and so on with those next in line. Is this how you guys understand it to work?
I had the third guy interested in my mufflers get twisted and say that he wasn't going to put up with that "crap", as he called it, while he was third in line. He only joined the forum recently and had less than 40 posts. So I tried to explain how it works, at least how it has worked for me many, many times.
Am I missing something here?

Thanks Izzo. I guess the guy got bent sideways that I wouldn't sell to him right away and, by doing so, disregard the two other guys that contacted me before he did. After trying to explain how things work, he said I was lecturing him and that he has bought and sold over $50k of merchandise on these types forums and boards. Anyway, I'm glad to know I'm in compliance with the commonly accepted polices.

That is a good way of doing it, but I reserve the right not to sell to anybody that annoys me. Still a free country.
I sold my '66 Mustang in '86. First kid that came to look at it was cocky, and beat the **** out of it test driving it. Told him I changed my mind, I wasn't selling.
Next kid was polite, didn't even test drive it. I still miss that car, but I am glad I sold it to the nice guy. I remember my emotions, that day, like it was yesterday.

Another member here posted a for sale ad. I was the first one who responded, the first one who posted: "I'll take it. PM sent".
And then within 60 seconds I sent the PM saying I can pay immediately via PayPal, or if he preferred another method, just let me know and I would take care of it immediately.
He never replied to my PM or my followup, and sold the item to somebody else two days later.
Buying and selling in the classifieds is like a box of chocolates...
