Default Will '09 rear touring shocks fit on 07 SG?

Will the OEM rear shocks from an '09 touring bike fit on the '07 Street Glide?

Are the '09 rear shocks 13"? Thanks!

There are 2 different heights
12-13"

the 09's which I have on my S/G don't ride near as nice as the 06-08 models
That's the rear shocks with a suffix of "C" after the number...

Thanks for the tip. Rode two up on a recent road trip and the rear shocks (Progressive 440s) had a tendency to bottom out on medium sized bumps. To eliminate that, I want to replace the 12" shocks with 13" shocks for the extra travel. Guess I'll pass on the '09 shocks and look for '06-'08 shocks.

The Street Glide & RK Custom has 12" shocks. They are valved and sprung harsher due to the reduced travel.

There are more than enough posts on the Progressive shocks here on this forum. Unfortunately you were one of the members who discovered these shortcomings after you bought them. Not all shocks are the same so don't give up. I am going to post what is inside of an air shock as I have cut one apart for demo & taken photos. Good luck with them.

54622-09 FLHX 12" shocks
54565-09 ALL OTHER TOURERS 13"

Ben (WVULTRA) has them on his 07 and has good results.

Your 440's have ten full turns of adjustment. Did you adjust the pre-load according to the weight you had on the bike? The Progressive shocks are gas-charged with progressively wound springs and are far, far better shocks than the stockers.

Yes, I increased the spring preload setting to the maximum prior to the trip. The Progressive shocks work fine, but because they are 12", they don't have enough travel to absorb the road bumps when I'm riding two up. I weigh 200 lbs + 125 lbs passenger + 30 lbs baggage.

Once I pick up a set of 13" shocks off of e-bay, I'll bolt them on and see if there's any improvement. If yes, then the 440s are going on e-bay for sale.

Plow64 you did the exact same thing I did with my 09 FLHX. Except I used 07 FLHTCU Stock shocks and lowering cams on my SG. YES the ride is 100 time softer. That shock give you more travel hence a better ride. Only problem now is that I have a brand new set of Progressive 440 to sell also!! Good luck!!

Google motorcycle lowering cams, there are numerous companys out there selling them now. I have even seen them in some of the motorcycle mags. If you still cannot find them e-mail me at edge2edge@comcast.net and I will look for my receipt and help you with the search. Bill
