Default Evo engine mounts?

Hi, so question here about engine mounts. Ive got a Rolling Thunder custom FXR frame set up for Evo engine mounts. I was planning on using a stock Harley Evo crate motor, but I noticed the only evo engine from Harley states that it fits 1999 softails only. Whats the deal with that, I thought evo mounts were evo mounts? Anybody have any insite into this? thanks

Softail Evos are bolted into the frame direct, they don't have rubber mounts. I have no idea how that makes them different in the metal. Have you considered alternative brands of Evo style motors? I have an S&S in my old bike which is just great, but there are other crate engines out there worth considering.

There should not be a problem!
A soft tail is ridged and the fxr is rubber.
I put a soft tail engine in my rudder mounted flh dresser...No problems!
Don`t know whats up with the 99 model.

Good luck.

So did you keep the rubber mounts or mount it solid?

Did you notice any extra vibration?

How did you mount the transmission to the back of the engine case? On my FXR (87) the motor mounts to a front mount the trans mounts to the back of the motor and the swing arm installs to the back of the trans and is supported by the frame. A softail has a separate mount plate for the motor and the transmission and the swing arm is mounted to the frame with two bolts. The primary connects the trans and motor on a softail.

Am I missing something here?
