welding stock crank
What is you guys o[pinion on when you would need to weld the pressed crank. Meaning at what hp and torque, assuming your gonna wale on it? I have an 05 roadking now, but it about to undergo some major changes and Im sorta worried about scissoring the crank if i wale on it? what do you thing

That scissoring mostly occurs from shutting it down quickly under load.
Don't do that.
But as long as you're in there...

how much do you want to pay for reliability?
If I ever have to split my cases I am sure going to make sure the bottom end is as close to bullet proof as I can get it.

When I went from a 96" to a 107" I sent my cases and crank to Revolution Performance to have left hand Timken bearings installed and to have the crank straightened, welded, plugged, and balanced. I now wish I had replaced the rods also, but I passed on that. I believe it was worth it. It has .0015" run-out (they usually get to .001 or less, but sometimes it can't be done) and that hasn't changed in 30K miles of riding. It has a lot less vibration than it did stock and I am not at all worried about the left bearing shelling out on me. And if you are really going to do something radical like a 107" big bore they can bore the cases for you while its there also.

Make it bullet proof. If you have to ask what it cost---something's wrong. My only two question would be can you make it right and can you make it bulletproof?
