Default St Joseph/Benton Harbor areas

Anyone live up that way can tell me about the area? May have a chance for a transfer to that area, just wanting an idea on what the area is like.

Whenever we are in that area we stop at one of my favorite Italian restaurants.

There are some nice areas and some bad areas. Be careful where you move. Sounds like Benton Harbor has problems.

You gotta be totally outta your mind to even consider living in Michigan.

You couldn't pay me enough to live in ANY Great Lake State.

St. Joe has a nice downtown, some good restaurants. The roads leave something to be desired, red arrow highway and M63 are decent rides for the area. Benton Harbor is referred to as "Benton Harlem". Since whirlpool moved to mexico, it's gone downhill. Be careful and be armed if you're wandering off of M63.

Dickey how can you make statements about Great Lakes States when you have never been here? That is plain ignorant. I absolutely love the Midwest. Best people anywhere. And I grew up in the Linden Houses, Brooklyn.

I wouldn't want to live in Benton Harbor. Looks pretty ghetto to me. But I have only passed through, stopping only for fuel. K-Zoo is pretty nice. I have friends there that love it. But, it's a 50 mile drive to B.H.

Good spots and bad spots like anywhere.Benton Harbor is kid of funny in that you can be in a ruff part of town then 5 minutes down the road there is a quite neighborhood with 1/2 million dollar homes. Don't let Dickey scare you he lives in Florida and sometimes all that sunshine warps his noodle.

Thanks, Ron, I'll check that out. I go through there on I-94 about six times a year.

We are right on the state line in Indiana about 30 minutes from there. We dig the ride up & enjoy St Joe. Stay out of Benton Harbor for sure!!! South side of St Joe isn't bad if you don't want to deal with living right downtown. We install hardscapes for a bunch of builders who build homes up in the area. Lots of nice country roads but have to be careful, they change to dirt real quick if you jump on the wrong one. If you end up heading there let us know, your more then welcome to join up & ride with us!
