Default Battery died or just need a charge?

Hi all,

Just shipped my bike from the east coast to the west. When my brother help me load the bike to the transporter, I believe he forgot and left the ignition at "ACC"

Bike arrived, and it won't start. I figured the battery just died, so I hook it up to battery tender for a charge for a night now.

The battery tender indicator has been steady red since, but when I flick it to ACC, it starts flashing red, but if I completely turn the ignition off, it turns into steady red again.

My questions are:
1)how long does it take for a charge?(for the bike to start back up again)
2)do I just need a new battery? (2008 XL 1200 Nightster, never change the battery til now)
3) any suggestion for a battery brand, $, etc.

Thanks guys.

A battery tender is not a charger, its only for maintaining a charge. Id hook it up to a regular charger and give it a try.

I'd suggest checking the prices as Battery Mart.

Well, since this will be on your brothers dime, I'd just buy a new battery
Besides, you got your money's worth out of a 6 year old battery.

Does the bike have security? He probably shipped without setting it in transport mode and had the lights flashing all the way. Get a new battery.

HD Hundred dollar. About the price of a battery.
Cheap in the long run.
Replace it.

A maintenance-free lead/acid battery that has been fully discharged is toast.
