Bobbed Rear Hurt Value?

Bobbed Rear Hurt Value?
I'm the proud new owner of an iron 883, new as in put it in my garage yesterday.
I really want to bob the fender back to about 12:00, meaning im going to have to chop a substantial amount of the frame back, this has been the plan since i started looking at bikes. I am now reluctant because I am afraid of hurting any re-sale value the bike has.
Has anyone found that bobbing the rear hurts the value of the bike?
I have absolutely no desire to sell the bike at the moment but things change and i'm just trying to plan ahead.
Thanks, Brian

If you want to bob it, do it. After all it is your bike. As far as value when selling only time will tell. I never think about that as I have never sold a motorcycle, just buy ride for 10-15 years and then buy another.

You will enjoy the bike a lot more by not worrying about the next owner or how much the mod will cost in the long run.

To answer your question...... In general, yes it will hurt resale value.
Any time you modify something, you narrow the market of possible buyers.
At the same time, you might open up a market for someone wanting the same mods you did.
But more often than not you will have less people interested, especially if you make mods that can't be undone easily.
As the others said though, enjoy your bike and make it yours.
If you constantly worry about resale value, you'll probably never be completely happy with any bike.

Make it your own and enjoy it while you own it -
there are plenty of Bobber riders out there-
if you sell it someone else might like what you did and go with it- WIN,WIN...

Before you break out the grinder, why not pick up the parts you want to chop off Ebay. Chop those parts, and if and when you want to sell, put the original parts back on. Making a bike too personal will make a bike hard to sell. Like putting your kids airbrushed pictures on it, or landscape scenes ,or pics of your dogs. I saw a bike recently where the guy had Wizard of OZ sceens painted on it. Looked kinda weird but not in a good way.,,

I wouldn't do it. Way too "trendy" & (hopefully) will be over soon. THEN what're you gonna do?
Besides--what happens when you pick up that little cutie at the bar? Where you gonna have her sit when you take for that ride that leads to (hopefully) coitus?
