Exports to Canada: Must See CBP Exports then Pay Custom Broker to Process Title & BOL
Unsure if this has already been discussed.
Might as well let Canadians importing bikes into Canada know that a new requirement that is important to know for the import process is now being enforced.
Prior to 2 months ago if you were exporting any vehicle from the US. One dropped off the Original Title and Bill of Sale and the Export Desk of the Port of Export/ Border to allow the CBP 72 hrs to clear the VIN, Title, Status, etc.
Extra steps include:
1. Bring Title and Bill of Sale to Border Export Desk
2. CBP Rep will give you a package with a "Vehicle Export Cover Sheet"
3. Take Cover Sheet, Title, and Bill of Sale to Customs Broker of your choice (list in package).
4. They process the information into a new system and give the bike or vehicle an ITN number
5. Total Cost $105 USD
6. Take back Cover Sheet with ITN number and Title with Bill of Sale to CBP Export Desk (Can be emailed to CBP Export by Broker for an extra $50 or emailed yourself if after hours
7. You will receive an email when CBP Export Desk received information and when bike or vehicle can be cleared by CBP Port of Export.
As far as I know and was told this information is not yet posted to CBP, CBSA, RIV or Transport Canada websites. Only started to be enforced.
Unsure how it may apply to salvage, frames, etc.
