i got a used bike but no bill of sale....will the dmv (tax collector) here in fla say? thanks ..or can i register my bike without a bill of sale? thanks
I am thinking, even with a bill of sale, you will still need a title to register a vehicle in Florida...something
that says it is street legal. I have heard...ahem.....that some bike 'shops' will sell you a 'assembled from parts' title...
but I do not know of any.
Assuming you have a clear Fl title for the bike, the only thing a bill of sale does is determine how much sales tax you pay when registering it.
A bill of sale can be pretty much anything you want, even hand written on a blank sheet of paper.
Include buyers and sellers name, VIN, mileage, price & signature of seller.
Easy to do at your kitchen table.
You do not need a bill of sale in Florida for a vehicle. You do need the title. On the bottom of the title there is a place to assign transfer, where the seller must sign it, enter selling price, and mileage. That's all they need at the DMV.
thanks Larsfum,,,i just looked at the title and YES,,your correct about that,,,i totally did not lok at all of that info on the title....good for me as i didnt fill it out or seller with that info..saved me a lot of MONEY!!! haha....fla wants to not only tax me ,,but assess a penalty of $20 for not reg, the bike in 30 days.. thanks all for your help...
