Default Cost for the 2500 mile service

I have an 08 Heritage Classic that I bought with only 656 miles on it. I just crossed over the 2500 mile mark. I am taking it in to an independent guy to do the service. He is a trained HD tech. Says it should take 2 hours and the cost with all synthetic lubes, chrome filter, labor, shop supplies, etc, is about $240. Does that sound about right?

Is there a 2500 mile recommended service?

I'm close to 2500 miles myself, but all I see/hear about my Harley is 1000, 5000 then every 5000 miles after that.

Don't know if you are aware of it but the Harley site has some great info, including service schedules, for each model.

That's about what I recently paid for my 1,000 mile service at the dealer with synthetic fluids.

Cost me around $80.00 to do my own service. Includes all synthetic fluids, filter, various lubrcants and new O rings.

I believe the services are 1000, 5000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, etc. If your bike had the 1k service done on it, you should be good until your next scheduled maintence. If you just want to change your fluids, do it yourself and don't take it in to anyone.

If that includes the primary and transmission lubes, and checking the belt tension, and torque checks, it's probably as reasonable as anywhere, probably less expensive than the HD dealers (would probably be $100 more at the dealers near here), if you really want service at 2500 miles, as others have said that isn't a required service interval. But it's your ride.

$240 isn't too bad but you could do it much cheaper yourself, if there was in fact a 2,500 mile service point! 1,000 5,000 10,000 15,000

Unless I am missing something here and like others have said, there isn't a 2500 mile service job in the manual, so I am not sure why you want to do a service job at this time. If you are doing it for peace of mind, I understand that. I am not sure about the pricing that each Indy might have but I know that my Indy wouldn't charge that much, but to each their own.

- for piece of mine I changed my fluids myself @ 2,500 miles - pretty simple - buy a manual it will quickly become your best friend, sometimes you can find videos on Youtube as well - about half the price what the Indy dealer quoted you.
