Rear tire change at Honda dealership?
Harley dealership wants 140 labor to change out the rear tire on my street glide. Honda shop said they will do it for around 70bux. Why the big difference in price? Both places is me taking the bike and my own tire in. I would love to just take the tire in myself and have it changed like I always did on street bikes but I don't have a lift for this thing to get the tire out. Is there a way to remove the rear tire without a lift?
Thanks

Sounds like the same thing that goes on here, I've got a lift so I take just the wheel and new tire in, the HD dealer charges 1 hour, $90 plus a disposal fee to remove the old tire and mount a new tire, the local Honda dealer does the job for $30 including disposal fee for the old tire... guess where I go to have my tires done? The Honda dealer has done tires for my HD's, Yamaha's, and Kawasaki's, for that price I don't bother wrestling with tires myself anymore...

Man, some of you guys need a different dealership. Mine changes them out for $75.00. That includes removing it from the bike, and reinstalling on the bike. And that's only about $10 more than most of the independents around here.
Another reason I don't mess with it, other than not having a jack, is all the stuff in the way. I would imagine all the touring bikes have the issue where you pretty much need to remove the right side muffler to get the axle out. Though the last time I had a tire changed, I did so at an indy. After watching him remove the muffler from the mounting bracket, then push down on the muffler to get it out of the way..... well, that's the last time I've ever used that guy. I don't want bent, kinked, or broken head pipe from some idiot trying to get the tire off.
