Ok I am sure this probably isn't the best place to post this, but couldn't really find a place it fits. I am NOT trying to sell this jacket with this post, I am trying to get some info on what the jacket may be worth.

Well about 20+ years ago I purchased this jacket from a local shop. It is the original panhead jacket, not the panhead 2.

The jacket's lining is perfect with no rips or tears. The outside has that distressed look to it. The size is an XL.

I went to ebay and saw the prices all over the place. I did notice they didn't have any XL's for sale. So I know the general rule of selling is something is worth whatever someone else will pay, but I don't really want to overprice it and it not sell or underprice it and screw myself.

Any help on the pricing would be appreciated.

must be priced re-list-ably not realistically
seller seems to have a lot of hd leather that ultimately sells for 'best offer accepted'
searching ebay shows completed sold listings looks like prices are 250-300

 

As a former panhead owner, I wouldn't mind owning one of those, but not at that price.

 

What's the difference between Panhead I and Panhead II Jackets, other than age?

 

i'm not really sure. I know the Panhead II has some patches on it and the original Panhead jacket is super thick leather.

 

I picked up a leather jacket with CE armor protection for 300-.

Super thick leather isn't going to be better than CE armor on impact.

 

I think at some point in time HD started putting armor "pockets" in elbow and shoulder areas of their leather jackets, with the armor sold separately.

Regarding what vintage HD jackets are worth...I sold my 1980s vintage western style leather HD jacket a couple of years ago on e-bay. I recall paying close to $500 in the late 1980s or early 90s, and it went for less than half of that. Mine was worn and had some fading from riding, etc, but was in great condition nevertheless. My vintage HD denim jacket from the mid 1980s went for a sung. for Some vintage jackets seem to command big bucks, maybe clubs buy them I really don't know.
