Question for chapter HOG Officers & Members
I joined a local chapter this year, my first HOG chapter membership. Bought my first HD last year. Been riding for close to 40 years.
I'm curious about vests. I have one in denim I wear frequently, but not always. On my back is a Run For The Wall back patch; it looks like this:
The rest of the vest is covered in various pins & patches. Nothing vulgar or obscene, but the only reference to HOG is the small year pins I was sent by national.
I know each chapter may be different, but my question is: if I was a member of your chapter, would I be welcome to participate in your events wearing this vest? At least until I determine if a local HOG chapter is for me, I've no plans for a HOG vest.
Thanks....

I don't believe HOG membership dictates what you can wear or not wear. If your chapter does, then I would find another one, or don't join a local at all.
When you buy your first Harley, they first thing you want to do is embrace the culture. HOG is usually part of that. I joined my local, but never attended, so I abstained. I continue to renew my membership, yet prefer national status with no local affiliation. I've used the towing benefit and I participate in the mileage program. HOG members are generally good people. They can be cliquish, but that happens in large groups.
