Default Harley Davidson Glasses - Opinions Please

I have had a bad experience with my normal sunglasses while riding my UTV and it made me think about just wearing normal sunglasses while I ride on the road. I have been looking at the Harley Safety glasses on Amazon and I am impressed. They are a 1/4 of the price than from my dealer and they have more to choose from. Do you guys have them and how do you like them?

For the price I might buy one of each and see how they are!

Harley-Davidson HD1001 Safety Glasses with Black Frame and Gray Tint Anti-Fog Hardcoat Lens $13.11

I have a pair of cheap tinted HD glasses I bought at a dealer for about $15 and they look and work fine. The ones I have contain the padding on the back of the frame to keep out the wind from drying your eyes. I see none of the ones you picked have this so keep that in mind. I say go to the dealer and try on some cheap pairs and see what you like

I had a stone hit my Oakley sunglasses and they shattered. I was lucky I blinked and did not open my eve again because there were tiny pieces everywhere. From what I have read, safety glasses will not do that.

Make sure you get safety glasses that are rated Z87+, not Z87.

Since 2003, the ANSI Standard for eye protection began adding a new rating, or rather dividing the standard in two: high impact (Z87+) and basic impact (Z87).
Z87+ or High impact standard glasses must pass a much more stringent set of tests than the basic or Z87 impact standard.

Z87+ glasses must pass the “high mass” test which consists of dropping a 500 gram pointed weight from a height of about 5 feet onto the lens. It also must pass the test of having a ¼” steel ball shot at the lens. The velocity varies which the product (glasses = 102 mph from a distance of 150′, goggles = 170 mph from a distance of 250′ and 205 mph from a distance of 300ft).

The bottom line is that the high impact standard (the Z87+) offers much better protection. If you are going to wear eye protection it may certainly be worth your while to get the added protection.

Oh yeah, if you ride a bike with no fairing / wind shield you do need glasses with ballistic lenses. Usually these are polycarbonate. Your eyes are worth every cent!

Interesting, never knew that. You see you learn something everyday. I have a pair of HD glasses that I rarely use. Looks like they will see some more use now.

They stock the HD safety glasses at our local Grainger also. I keep a pair in my truck. Was just looking through their listings and saw some HD mechanics gloves and ordered a pair. They also have hard hats and boots.

I have couple of pair, I bought at the dealer for between $15-$18. They are fine, still using them.
