problems with my Deuce 2000
I am from Geneva Switzerland. I ride two Harleys: Softail Deuce 1550ccm carburator year 2000 and Dyna Wide Glide 1700ccm year 2013.
I have been riding 155000 miles on the Deuce since I bought it new in 2000. I had the engin completely redone this spring 2015 and it works again like a charm! Just one little problem. Once in a while, every 80 miles or so the engine stops working without any announcement! I can start it again immediately. Sounds like a electrical problem ... any ideas?

I have seen problems before now with corrosion INSIDE the tank mounted ignition switch.
Easy fix , just time and labour , no parts required
Remove it from the bike , and flush it through with WD40 or CRC or some similar European product , relube with electrical contact cleaner and clean off all the copper corrosion on the wiring harness terminals. You do not have to totally disassemble the switch.
Worth a try , before you get into more expensive parts replacement

I had a wideglide that was doing that.
It turned out to be the ignition switch.
I found this out by banging my fist on the switch one time when it went dead on me
at 60MPH. One hard hit on the switch and it came back to life!
Trying spraying some contact cleaner into the switch, something cheap and easy to try.
Intermittent electrical problems can be a real PITA to find sometimes.

system relay supplies power to fuel pump coil injectors. ride down road relay screws up it cuts power off to fuel pump abruptly dies . if you hade an ignition switch problem all power would get cut off. when bike dies does ignition lite check engine oil come on? head lite stays on?. if so check relay. if all power lost check ignition switch.

If it is not an ignition switch problem, check the bank angle sensor. My 2000 Fatboy had a problem several years ago where the bike would just shut off. I'd turn the switch off and back on and the bike would start right up again. Replaced the bank angle sensor and all was well.
Chief08 had a good idea to check the ignition switch. However, the stuff about the fuel pump doesn't relate to your bike since it is carbureted.
