Default Making a full dresser double seat pan sound like fun maybe?

Been thinking about a cool chopped down layback as far as possible custom seat.

I wanna do an Ipod pocket on the side of the back seat, maybe another pocket on the other
side. A patch sewed into the back of my seat I've bought, Harley wings on her backrest.

But no a pan! A stripped down 1990 Ultra Classic pan would be a start but no luck finding one.

Then thinking today about pulling the seat off and maybe making a slim down pan myself
and taking it to the upholstery shop with patches and ideas, heavy colored stitch maybe?

Any recommendations on the pan material easy to work with? I could cut and beat out some
tin but how would they staple to that again? I know I've seen metal seat pans. Pop rivets? Duh!

I was even thinking about CCA plywood, little wet and bend and/or thin flat metal strap for making
the bends. Rubber hose over parts of the frame under it even maybe. Rhino line (like) the bottom.

Some good tunes and a good mood this could be fun! Take my time, put my big ol' pillow
button tuck seat back on till it's done. Wait till dead of winter could work too...Maybe!

I sure hope you are very handy in the shop and creative, think out of the box. Does not sound as though you will have to be as elaborate as was done with my bike but not a job for a rookie. My Road King is getting a 7 gallon tank so a custom seat HAD to be built for it. The thought that went into the pan alone was a sight to behold. He also incorporated my Mustang backrest and designed so that it can be removed if need be. Best of luck!!!

Cover the bike in a sheet of plastic then use fiberglass. Make it thick and bigger than you want it. When the glass cures cut the edges to the shape you want with a cutting wheel then sand smooth

I'd stay away from the fiberglass, unless you done it before. Give a call to a few of the seat builders & try to but a pan from them. I bought one from LePera for a FXR & it was metal, but that was back in 1990. Good luck.

I'd like to think I am as creative and crafty as a guy could get Mike.

I have thought about fiberglass but I haven't really messed with it.

Thinking now I might just put this off till winter. Meanwhile, see if I
can come up with a simple pan to start with.

I still have the stock seat off my 90 ultra, in good shape. I'll make you a good deal if you come get it. I live about an hour north of KC.

Sold brotha!

I didn't want to drop a couple hundred or more to rip it apart, 40 bucks is
what I was looking for. Thanks!

I am heading to Lathrup to do a tree job today. But it also sounds like a
good bike ride one evening this week or weekend...Open really. Thx again!
