I have a thread over in the dyna thread but trying get some traffic in the general thread so I'll keep this HD related opposed to a specific scoot.

My 2012 96" is in for a warranty issue, it wouldn't start and they thought it was a starter issue, it was acting like it was locked up. It was there a few days waiting on a new starter and I asked if they would open the primary to have a look to make sure everything was ok. The flywheel that the starter gear connects to was missing a tooth and I'm guessing the tooth is jammed up behind something. Now I'm waiting on a new clutch basket or whatever the correct name is. My questions are. Is this typical or a freak occurrence? Is there something I can do to avoid this in the future? And is there anything I should be talking to my dealer about, maybe more serious issues it could have caused or more parts that may need replaced.
